Suvarnabhumi airport

Edit This
International and Domestic flights are now from Suvarnabhumi airport, Bangkoks new airport. Unlike the old (Don Muang) airport there is no rail link to getting into Bangkok and that means taking a bus or taxi. Taxis into central Bangkok will cost about 300 baht + the freeway tolls (50 baht) so if two or more of you are sharing its probably the best option. For those wanting to save a few baht or if are travelling to Pattaya or further, the airport buses run into some handy  locations where you can also use the BTS (skytrain) to get a round.

Some domestic flights are in the process of being moved back to Don Muang (the old airport) so in the future if your travelling on to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui etc by air you may need to take the bus from one airport to another

When arriving in Bangkok, you will need to put an address on your immigration card, so its wise to pre-book a hotel or guest house for at least the first night or two. You can get much better rates by booking on-line
