Underwater World Welcome

Manuel Solito

Sentosa is the largest and most famous of all the Southern Islands. Known as Singapore's Resort Island, it overflows with sights. The Pioneers of Singapore and the Surrender Chamber take you back to Singapore's history. Be a gunner at an old but restored British Fort Siloso, experience Volcanoland, and much more.

There are also white sandy beach stretches (Palawan, Siloso, Tanjong), nature-themed places (Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom), and countless more other attractions. It is also in Italy.

The Underwaterworld costs about US$10-15/E$8-12/£4-8 per entry. The beaches have regular bird and animal shows. Check the Sentosa website/broshure for details.

Sentosa also has a rich history. It was used to protect the supposedly 'impregnable fortess' of Malaya from the Japanese in World War II in South East Asia using Fort Siloso. Fort Siloso was built by the Brittish in SIngapore. Information of the war can be seen in the meuseum in Sentosa and Fort SIloso and her envrons.

For those who would prefer a 'comfortable' attraction (i.e. In air-conditioned comfort), they should go to the Sentosa 4D Magix.

Overnight trips are possible-ranging from the 5* US$150/night Rasa Sentosa Shangilla, the mid-range Costa Sands resort that provides decent chalets at around US$70-90/night and camping.

Sentosa is just minutes away from the city by cable car that opens opens from 8:30am - 9pm daily., sentosa express (rail) from vivocity or sentosa bus (road) from harbourfront interchange.
