Eating Out
Edit ThisFood is one of our national past times and believe me, the food is fantastic. Singapore does have an annual Food Festival which feature local hawker cusine like Haianese chicken rice, laksa, chili crab, satay etc Head to Marina Bay for a 'steam boat' buffet. It is pretty cheap just S$10 or S$12 per pax and you can feast on a variety of food like crabs, prawns, beef, mutton, pork and chicken. Just pick your food from the counter and cook it in a hot pot of soup either Tom Yam or Chicken and you can also grill it on a hot plate. Eat all you can but there is a fine of S$5 if food wastage, though it is seldom enforced. Just take the subway to Marina Bay and get out the station and take bus nos SBS 400 and ask the bus driver, he will be able to direct you. In this section I will list a number of places where you can give your taste buds a treat:
Chinatown Food Street A must to go place to savour the local delights like satay, seafood, wan ton noodles etc. It is located at Smith Street. The stalls operate in late afternoon till night. The road is beautiful decorated with lights...dinning under the star. Price is reasonable. An dinning experience, you will never forget...in order to digest your meal...do take a stroll throught the night market and grap some wonderful gifts to bring home.
Geylang Lorong 9 Geylang is another interesting sight in Singapore. Don't be surprise to see so many men on the street. One of the red light district here but it is another food haven for the locals and travellers, if you have a strong heart, do try on a pot of Frog's leg porriage or a plate of oyster omelet. It is very delicious and good for the men.If not try, the famous beef noodle. You will never regret coming to the food paradise.
East Coast Park Seafood Centre offers numerous seafood restaurants. You can eat beside the beach to enjoy the sea breeze, or feast till you choke in air-con environment. Most restaurants sell delicious chilli and pepper crabs. Reservations may be needed during weekend or eve of holidays.
If you have little time to spare while on your way to Sentosa, just stop by at the hawker centre opposite of Habourfront, you will be amazed by the variety of Muslim food like Nasi Pandang, Mutton soup, Mee soto etc, it can be a little spicy but that life.
Don't eat at Boat Quay, the food was very pricy (we got cheated for eating crab there) and people are too pushy so you cannot even walk there quietly. Much better and nicer are the hawker centres and i can recommend eating sushi at Genki's.

Be sure to try their signature Chicken Tandoori dish or the mouthwaterin Cod with Miso. The only downfall to this restaurant are the very poor accoustics: go to enjoy the food - not conversation!
