Shopping in Olongapo City
Edit ThisWhen you go away on vacation you will be doing plenty of shopping. Olongapo City Shopping will provide you with a unique shopping experience, especially if you take a shopping trip to the Olongapo City Mall or the Wet Markets.
Olongapo Mall
Although this mall is not very big, it is full of a large selection of clothes. The best part about the clothing selection is that the prices are relatively cheap. If you are looking for souvenirs to take home to your family and friends, this might not be the best place to find them. Instead, the mall is more of a hang out spot for students, so a teenager on your trip might find this a welcome spot to visit.
Wet Markets
If you go shopping in the Wet markets you will be able to find a little bit of everything. The wet markets have pretty much everything you are looking for. The wet markets are a great place to go shopping when looking for souvenirs to take home because of the native items that they have located throughout the market.
National Book Store
If you are a book lover you must make sure you stop in and visit the National Book Store. However, do not bring your cameras inside or try taking a picture of it outside because the rules are very strict. It is illegal to take pictures inside of the National Book Store. You can find just about any book you want inside this bookstore and you can visit their website beforehand to find out about any special events taking place.
Duty Free Shops
Duty free shops are located throughout the city, but you want to be careful when shopping inside them because you still might get charged the taxes when you go back home. Duty free shops are supposed to allow you to buy the things that are sold back home, but for a much cheaper price because you do not have to pay any local taxes and duties. Your best bet is to stay away from these shops and stick to the shopping mall or the wet markets.
Souvenirs
This is a nice little shop that sells local crafts. Everything sold inside the shop is made by residents of Olongapo. Here you will be able to find a few different trinkets to take home with you to remind you of your wonderful vacation, and you can even bring some back as souvenirs.
Rocker’n Clothes
This quaint little boutique sells a large variety of clothes, mostly what the teenagers are currently wearing. If you have teenage children with you on the trip, they would enjoy going inside this store, if only just to browse. As adults, you are best to steer clear, unless rocker clothes or punk clothes suit your style.
