Sights in Negros island
Edit ThisNegros Island is the Sugar Bowl of Philippines. Apart from the great depression of 1980s in sugar industry, it has done well economically. Negros Island Sights are highly influenced by the Spanish culture as well as American rituals. The important places here can be catagorized into 2 broad groups like places of interest in Negros Occidental and places of interest in Negros Oriental.
Negros Occidental Sights
In Victoria City, Church of Angry Christ is the most famous site in Negros Occidental. The origin of the name derived from the huge mural of Jesus Christ which depicts Jesus as Filipino, and he looks angry. There is another mural inside the church which, made out of soda cans, depicts Jesus as Filipino and is being baptized. Church of Our Lady of Peace and Voyage and San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod are made of Corals and are bound together by egg yolks. In Silay, San Diego Pro Cathedral has a resemblance to the St. Peters Basilica in Rome.
Fountain of Justice in Bacolod is a historical place where the Spanish had surrendered to Filipinos. The beautiful Spanish–American structures are still preserved well.
Danjugan Island has a unique ecological system and diverse marine life. The beautiful salt water lagoons attract huge numbers of visitors every year. This island is the home of endangered white breasted eagle. Mt. Kanlaon National Park is a very good place for trekking and mountaineering.
Negros Oriental Sights
Situated in the capital city of Dumanguete, Sidlakang Negros is a big park and it is completely dedicated for the social and cultural events of Negros province. This park has many huts and cottages which showcase Negros Oriental art forms, crafts, agricultural innovations and tourism. About 200 meters above sea level, Apo Island in Dauin is a small volcanic islet. This small islet is noted for huge natural diversity in such a small region. Casaroro Falls in Valencia is the largest falls in Negros. falling from around 100 feet high. Surrounded by nice rocky hills, this falls is an ideal place for photography. A magnificent small lake at the bottom of the falls is a very good spot for swimming. The dolphin watch point in Bais City is one of the best places to watch dolphins playing in the vast open sea. The place is also famous for the home of the rare pygmy sperm whales. Manjuyod has a beautiful white sandy beach which is great for swimming and angling all around the year. Enrique Villanueva is the natural laboratory of Philippines. It has got the highest biodiversity in Philippines. The twin lakes of Balinsasayao and Danao are 2 of the best locations for nature lovers.
