St. Joseph Church

Las Pinas is known for the ‘Bamboo organ.’ This organ is presently situated in the St. Joseph Church, which was constructed in the year 1816 by Fr. Diego Cera. Construction was completed in the year 1824. As the name suggests, the organ is built entirely of bamboo, except the trumpet stops which are made of metal. The National Museum of Philippines has also conferred the title of ‘National Cultural Treasure’ on this historic monument. You can enjoy the unique and melodious sound produced from the bamboo organ and also attend the musical concerts held here. Do not miss the annual ‘Bamboo Organ Music Festival’ if you are planning to visit Las Pinas in the month of February.

The Nature Church

A visit to Las Pinas is incomplete without a trip to the Nature Church. This church is still in good condition thanks to the persistent efforts of the city officials. Originally built by Bobby Mañosa, the church is surrounded by nature i.e. plants, flowers, trees and mango orchards from all sides. The Nature Church should be included in your tour itinerary, if you are planning to visit Las Pinas with your family. The church is also famous for its artistic wooden architecture and the wooden sculpture of Madonna and Child. Nature Church is located in the Moonwalk village of Las Pinas.

Zapote Bridge

The Las Piñas Corridor is the name of a project initiated by the city’s officials. This project was initiated to preserve historical landmarks in Las Piñas. The Zapote Bridge is one such landmark which is included in this initiative. It is located in Zapote and is a symbol of the significant battle fought against the Spaniards. The battle took place at the Zapote Bridge in 1897. The ruins of the bridge still lie along the General Emilio Aguinaldo Highway near Manila Bay.

Salt-Making

Las Pinas was earlier known as the ‘Salt Center of Metro Manila.’ The salt beds of Las Pinas have now been restored as a result of the efforts of the local government leaders. You can get a glimpse of the conventional method of salt-making and harvesting. The people of Las Pinas have been practicing this method of salt-making for the past 2 centuries.   

Sarao Jeepney Factory

If you are a car enthusiast then you must visit the Sarap Jeepney Factory, better known as the ‘King of the Road.’ The city of Las Pinas is also known as a ‘Jeepney’ producing center and the Sarao Jeepney Factory is the pioneer in this industry. Visit the vehicle assembly plant to get an idea of how these vehicles are produced.
