Senior Travel in Las Pinas City

Edit This

Las Pinas City senior travel is easy due to the relaxing nature of this city located on the outskirts of Manila in the Philippines. This clean city may not be as big of a tourist spot as its neighbors but it is great for shopping, exploring the local culture and studying the history of the Philippines.

Sightseeing

The most popular destination for tourists in Las Pinas City is the world famous Bamboo Organ, which is housed in St. Joseph Church (the building itself is made out of volcanic stone). Built in 1824 it is the only one of its kind in the world. It is built out of bamboo, metal and wood and produces a very unique sound.

The Jeepney Factory is also a favorite tourist location and Filipino landmark. The Jeepney were originally U.S. Army jeeps left at the end of World War II, stripped down and transformed into all-purpose public transportation unique to the Philippines. The Jeepney plant, which is open for tours to the public, is a must see for anyone interested in Las Pinas City senior travel.

Shopping

Shopping in Las Pinas City can be just as culturally involving as visiting museums or churches. While you are visiting, and in between your destinations, be sure to stop at the many vendors lining the streets. On a typical day vendors will pack the streets selling everything from handmade lanterns to local foods. Even if you are not in the buying mood, a walk down these streets is an important part of immersing yourself in Filipino culture.

SM SouthMall, the largest mall in the area, is also in Las Pinas City and is home to a food court, an ice skating rink and a cinema. A trip to the mall is a good place to restock, cheaply, on much needed traveling supplies and relax, taking a break from a busy day.

Where to Eat and Drink

Located at the ground floor of the SM Southmall is Ted’s La Paz Batchoy which is a restaurant specializing in Filipino dishes like La Paz batchoy, a noodle soup with pork, chicken and seafood. Clustered around SM Southmall you will find several restaurants specializing in Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, American and Italian foods. Around BF Resort Village, an upscale community, you will find another cluster of restaurants, some unfamiliar like the Japanese restaurant Fukuya and some familiar like Pizza Hut.

Unlike Manila there is no concentrated night life in Las Pinas City. Despite that, some bars do well with the locals in the area. Good places to stop for music and a drink are Dencio’s Bar and Grill, the Cowboy Grill and Cuba Libre Bar & KTV.
