Planning Las Pinas City Family Travel? Here are three places just made for family fun.

Bamboo Organ
St. Joseph Church, Pinas City

The melodious sound created by this famous 19th century organ made from wood and bamboo cannot be reproduced by any other musical instrument. It was built by a Spanish monk, and the 950 bamboo pipes he used were buried in the sand for 6 months to prevent infestation from insects. However, this did not protect the organ from the earthquakes and typhoons that repeatedly hit this region. Although it was repaired by the monk and later by the locals he had trained, the instrument did not sound the same. Finally, in 1972, it was sent to Germany for repair. It returned in prime condition in 1975 and was welcomed home with much joy. The church which houses this unique organ is the venue of an Organ Festival in the second week of February every year. The festival attracts organists from round the world. The church itself, built with adobe stones in the "Earthquake Baroque" style between 1797 and 1819 is worth seeing. The convent also has a church bell donated by the Queen of Spain.

Rizal Park
Manila

Locals refer to this vast area of lushness and fun as Luneta. The park has something for the entire family. Apart from the gardens, there’s a planetarium, playgrounds, a stadium, an open-air concert hall, a light and sound theatre which holds shows dramatizing Rizal’s final hours, and an artists' sanctuary. What’s more, you can enjoy panoramic views of the beautiful Manila Bay from the park. After you’ve immersed yourself in the sights and sounds of Manila, you can eat at one of the restaurants or a food kiosk. A popular place for entertainment, the park is historically significant. It’s the site where Jose Rizal, Philippine's national hero, was shot by firing squad in 1896. Rizal, a doctor and novelist, had been accused of inciting rebellion against the Spanish government. The park also has a remarkable Orchidarium. Filipino orchids such as the rare waling-waling from the country’s rainforests are certainly worth seeing. These flowers are said to be the source of the most beautiful hybrid orchids of the world. The other attractions of the Orchidarium are its lovely lagoon and waterfalls, a man-made rainforest, a climbing wall and a butterfly pavilion. Manila is just 20 km from Pinas City and Rizal Park is must-add to your Las Pinas City Family Travel itinerary.

Tagaytay City

This destination just 45 minutes from Manila by bus is known for its unusual volcano. The Taal Volcano, located on an island in a lake, holds its own lake within a gigantic crater. Watch out for the breathtaking views of the volcano from the ridge on the highway. The city is cooler than Manila, making it a summer getaway for the locals. Another must-visit here is the ‘Palace in the Sky’ on the slopes of the Barngay Guinhawa. It was meant to be the home of former President Marcos but was never completed. Today it’s a park with a large flower farm. So if you find Las Pinas City Family Travel too hot, head to Tagaytay City.
