Kalaja Eco-Tourism

Here seniors could find a peaceful place to walk along nature. In the distance you can hear the sound of the Absekong waterfalls. The plants and the mountains paint a pretty picture of relief to the weary traveler. The food to eat here is seafood (mostly tuna) due to its abundance.

Tuna Festival

Some Asian countries receive heavy rainfall and flooding due to the monsoon season. However General Santos City does not have a monsoon season. It does have rainy days but also a dry season. Here the Tuna Festival is to show the pride that Gensan has as its number 1 product which is tuna. The first festival was held in 1998. There is dancing in the streets and people show off their culinary skills using tuna as their main ingredient.

Beaches of Gensan

Going to Gensan is one of the best experiences for any traveler. There is a beauty in the landscape, the mountains of the old fort. The woods and even the sands of the beach look special. People who are not so fond of the rain should visit from November to May. Lodging is virtually inexpensive. Seniors can rent a cottage for around P150 per day. The seniors who love to move around and want to spice up their vacation can snorkel in the coral reef.

Lake Sebu

Lake Sebu is located in an area of Gensan inhabited by the T’Boli tribe. Even though people and some parts of the Philippines have been westernized and the country has moved towards modernization, there are portions of the population that remain true to their roots. Lake Sebu is one of these areas.
