7 Day Itinerary in General Santos City

Edit This
General Santos, an interesting tourist destination is one of the most populous cities located in the southern Philippines. Activities range from adventurous to easy going: there are things to do for every type of traveler.

DAY1: NATURAL BEAUTY

For nature lovers, there is the Kalaja Karst Area, which features beautiful waterfalls and an attractive cave. The city offers peaceful and serene lakes, one being the Lake Sebu. The placid Lake Sebu is surrounded by splendid hills and mountains. It also has many endangered species such as the Philippine deer and the wild boar. This lake is home to the Tiboli tribe. You can view their dance and shop for exquisite local art and craft items.

DAY2: FOODIES DELIGHT

For local cuisines you can go to Sud-an and Kanto. The food mainly is Tuna based and is sold at reasonable rates. Another fish to watch out for is the gindara. Take a tour of the old town center for some thorough-bred eateries serving an array of delectable seafood.

DAY 3: TUNA LAND

Don’t miss the early morning activities at the Fishport Complex, about 15 kilometers from downtown Gensan. Here you will witness fishermen carrying their catches of various shapes and sizes sometimes going up to as heavy as 80 kilos. The image has often become like an iconic symbol of the city. Visitors can explore the market around the Fishport Complex and the various fishing settlements surrounding it. A trek through a fishing village is recommended and some amiable fisherman may even invite you to their homes for a delicious meal!

DAY 4: BEACH DAY

Turquoise blue water, soft powdery sand and many seashells are what the beaches here are all about. You can simply laze around on a hammock under the shade of a tree, or you can collect some wonderful shells. Switch off your phone, breathe in and feel the beauty of nature like never before.

DAY 5: SALKAK CAVE

This cave, full of underground rivers and chambers offers you the adventure of caving and experiencing the fresh and pure mountain breeze outside.

DAY 6: SPORTS DAY

Visit the Kalsangi Golf course, the golfers Eden and taste the delectable cuisine they have to offer at their restaurant. If you are a sport enthusiast you can also visit the General Santos Gymnasium which is a wonderful and well equipped fitness center.

DAY 7: SHOP AND EAT

Visit the Gaisano mall, the biggest in the City and the KCC mall. You can take your pick from designer labels to tribal clothing, in tandem with your budget. A budget of $50 would suffice you to purchase plenty of stuff to take back home.
