Eden Nature Park

As the third most populous city and the largest city in the southern part of the country, Davao is considered as the de facto capital of Mindanao. Located in the southeastern part Mindanao, Davao serves as the gateway to the booming Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). Aside being a prime business area, Davao sites are also  interesting to its visitors.   

Davao Museum

Located around eight miles from the heart of the city, the Davao Museum showcases the history, culture and crafts of the various tribes in the region, including the tribes of Mandaya, Tiboli, Mansaka, B’laan, Manobo and Baghobo. The museum also features the earliest archeological finds in the Philippines, including pottery, jars, vases, tribal clothing and jewelry pieces. The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Philippine Eagle Center

About an hour's ride from the heart of the City, the Philippine Eagle Center is home to the endangered Philippine eagle, also known as Monkey-eating eagle. Established in 1969, this place houses 36 Philippine eagles, 18 of which were bred in captivity, and other animals including different species of birds and mammals. As an institution dedicated to the preservation of endangered species, the center offers lectures and classes on conservation including captive breeding techniques and field research. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including holidays.

Eden Nature Park

Located 3,000 feet above sea level, the 80-hectare Eden Nature Park offers a magnificent view of the Davao Gulf and a chance to get close to nature. The park features vast gardens of herbs and organic vegetables, tropical foliage and lots of towering pine trees. For people who want to relax and explore nature, Deer Park and Bird Walk are the best places to start. The park also offers rope gliding and zip-line adventures for those who want to get their adrenalin pumping.

San Pedro Cathedral

Built in 1847, the San Pedro Cathedral is the oldest church in Mindanao. The cathedral was declared by the Philippine government as one of the country’s national cultural treasures. The original carvings of the images of saints and the altar decorations are well-preserved despite the many renovations made on the church in the past several years.

Paradise Island and Beach Resort

Your visit to Davao will not be complete without visiting the famous white sand beaches. Paradise Island and Beach Resort located in Samal Island, just seven minutes away from the city, ranks among the finest beaches in Davao. The resort boasts of nearly 800 meters of shoreline and snorkeling area where you can see beautiful corals and different varieties of marine life.

Located at the length of the Matina Coast is the lovely Sea Wall that offers some of the most spectacular sunsets in Davao as well as beautifully adorned grounds to stroll around.  It is here where the famous golden replica of Michaelangelo's David stands at a height of over 30 feet tall.   The towering statue is fronted by a pretty, lengthy pool of baby sharks and other tropical fishes.  Further down is the iconic statue of the Harbour of Denmark, a sculpture crafted in the image of the original Little Mermaid.  The water-front park offers lovely white more..

This shrine located at the top of Matina Hill is an open air shrine with replicas of the Infant Jesus of Prague and Our Lady of Fatima. A nice and quiet place to reflect and
worship. It also commands very nice views of Davao City, Davao Gulf, and Samal Island.

Here you'll find lots of crocodiles, a few taken from the Davao River. They come in different sizes, the largest one aptly named Pangil, is about 20 feet long.

One of Davao's newest attraction is white water rafting on the Davao River. The 3-hour run starts from the highlands of Baguio District, then down to Calinan, and then the lowlands. All in all there's about 30 rapids of varying degrees of difficulty. There's also additional activities for the more adventurous, like cliffside rappelling.

Philippine Eagle Conservation Centre

A must  for all conservationists and nature lovers to visit!

Located in the highlands of Baguio District is this centre dedicated to the conservation of the very rare Philippine Eagle. In the wild, these eagles are found in the forests around Mount Apo. In the centre, you will see various Philippine Eagles bred in captivity. This centre employs various methods of artificial ensemination to try and save the eagle from extinction.  There are also other species of "raptors" on display, plus a host of other animals in an open air zoo.

Eden Nature Park is nestled at the foot of Mt. Talomo. At 2,650 feet above sea level, the resort offers one of the best views of Davao City and the Davao gulf. It used to be an over-logged area in the '70s until the Ayalas planted pine trees all over the place, making the resort 95% man-made. The Lon Wa Buddhist Temple is the biggest Buddhist temple in Mindanao . It is located in the northern suburbs of Davao City, along J.P. Cabaguio Avenue. Features include Italian marble slabs, a magnificent Buddha, a gold Kuan Yin, carved wood ornamentation depicting the life of Buddha, carp-filled lily ponds, and high-ceilinged halls.

Mount Apo National Park

At 2,954 meters, this is the country's tallest peak.  Other attractions nearby include Lake Venado, and  several  falls and hot springs.

The Department of Tourism Regional Office organizes climbs to Mt Apo,  which usually take place around March or April.

This garden can only be accessed by boat. Near the coast of samal this place is rich with different corals and fishes. One can rent a local boat or a tour guide to this marvelous place.

Loleng's Mountain Spring Resort is another nature resort that commands a dramatic vista of metropolitan Davao. Blessed with a cool climate, it has accommodation, convention and sports facilities. It also has a vast playground, chapel, restaurant and a free-flowing spring water swimming pool. Entrance fee of P50 unless you are booked for an overnight stay.

Travel time from the Davao airport to Loleng's is approximately one hour. If taking off from Davao City proper or downtown area, travel southwards to Toril District. Travel time is about 45 minutes.
