Getting Around in Cebu City

Edit This

There are several options for Cebu City Transportation.

Registered Local Tourist Guides

After arriving in the Mactan Cebu International Airport (IATA international airport code: CEB), you will have several options for getting to your hotel. One alternative is to hire one of the certified local tourist guides. The average cost of a ride to the Marriot Hotel costs about 250 pesos. You can hire local tourist guides for one day or for your entire stay.

Getting Around by Jeepney

One of the most affordable ways to travel around Cebu City are the colorful "jeepneys." Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, jeepneys can travel anywhere in the city pretty fast. A jeepney ride from the airport to Lapu Lapu City costs about 7 Phillipines pesos, and a ride to downtown Cebu City costs about 10 pesos.

Getting Around by Bus

Buses are a good way to get around Cebu City when traveling the long route from the northern to the southern regions.

Getting Around by Taxi

The most cost- and time-efficient way to get around Cebu City is the taxi. Most trips around the city will cost about 100 Philippino pesos. Make sure that the driver only starts the taxi meter after he has a clear idea where you are going, however. Some drivers will try to charge an additional fare because you are foreigner, explaining that it is a usual practice. Don't be afraid to be assertive with your driver.

Tipping is not uncommon for taxi drivers that help you load or unload your pieces of luggage. However, be aware that taxi drivers purposefully do not carry small change, so that they can keep the remainder when you tip them. Therefore, it is a good idea to carry around 20- and 50-peso bills, so that you won't end up having to pay for a 60-peso trip with an entire 100-peso bill.
