When to Go in Angeles City
Edit ThisIf you've decided to visit Angeles City, when to go may still be playing on your mind. While most consider the Philippines to have only 2 seasons, wet and dry, there are actually 3 seasons in Luzon. Here's a look at Angeles City and the weather in winter, summer and the rainy season, and what you can expect from each.
Winter
From December to February is winter in Angeles City. The weather is usually quite cool and very dry. These months generally see the least rainfall, along with the summer. Keep in mind that the temperature does tend to dip drastically come nightfall, so you're going to want to pack layers and a few warm sweaters. Average temperatures range between 13 and 23 degrees C.
Summer
Once March hits it's play time in Angeles City. When to go usually follows the summer season, from March to May. The days are still dry but the temperature jumps from cool to hot. This is the best time if you want to visit some of the nearby beaches or take up some water sports in Subic Bay, as the water is warmer. You still might want a wrap for the evenings, however. Temperatures tend to hover between 16 and 32 degrees C.
Rainy Season
Most of the year is taken up by the rainy season, which lasts from June through November. During this time period thunderstorms and typhoons (hurricanes) are relatively common occurrences. Typhoons will generally last for between 1 and 3 days, with heavy rains that often result in floods and business closings. However, don't let this deter you from visiting at this time. Most of the days are characterized by brief rains limited to the afternoons, and sunny days are not unheard of. It's also a bit cooler with some nice breezes that temper the lasting summer heat. Just be sure to bring your umbrella.
Events
If you'd like to experience a bit of culture on your trip to Angeles City, your "when to go" list should try to encompass a local festival. The 2 biggest occur in nearby San Fernando. Every Easter there are demonstrations of penance culminating in a Passion Play that includes volunteers being nailed to crosses. December heralds the lantern festival, with parades that showcase the works of locals who are responsible for the biggest lanterns in the world. Both events are sights to behold, and are definitely worth a visit. They even conveniently fall during the dry period!
