Golfing at the Port Moresby Golf Club
Located directly across from the government building, the golf course offers reasonable prices and a good game of golf. After a game of golf visitors can have lunch in the main building which features a nice restaurant that also offers South Pacific beer. Just be sure to keep an eye out for the crocodiles that live in the water holes of the golf course, though they rarely ever make an appearance.
Visit the Botanical Gardens
These gardens showcase some spectacular examples of PNG wildlife, including birds of paradise and other native birds. Travelers can walk through the gardens and enjoy the many specimens of wildlife and the scenic surroundings. If you happen to visit at the right time you may even be able to see a wedding taking place within the gardens, as the Botanical Gardens are used as wedding venues.
Scuba Diving
Port Moresby offers several areas that provide scuba diving and
a quantity of wrecks and reefs are located within these zones. Diving
can be arranged through day vessels or in the dive shop located on
Loloata Island. In addition, Port Moresby has a wide variety of sites
that cater to all experience levels and rankings.
Dine in the Local Restaurants
Port Moresby is home to many delicious cookeries where visitors can get a taste for whatever cuisine sounds appealing. The local restaurants include Chinese, Japanese, Teppanyaki, Australian, Mediterranean, Italian, and Korean cuisine; there is clearly something for everyone's taste buds, and prices range from low-priced to expensive.
Tour the Beach Craft Market
Run by the
Ela Murray International School, this market is held on the last
Saturday of every month. This is a great place for tourists to discover
local artifacts from all over Port Moresby and Papua New Guinea. It is
also where visitors can purchase souvenirs such as handwoven baskets,
unique carvings,and other special treasures.
