Visa on Arrival

Any tourist agency can arrange the visa on arrival. there was a brief period when we could have requested e visa on internet. obviously the travel agencies objected to that since it is a cash cow for them. the visa cost is 20 usd but the travel agencies charge 20 usd facilitation fee and another 10 usd service charge. If you can get a visa where you live get it there or pay no more than 20 + 20 usd to get visa on arrival. ( through a travel agency ). Give at least ten days notice.

Currently only Kayah state is out of bounds for foreigners but the situation may change. Permits are required to almost all places outside the usual yangon-mandalay-bagan-inle lake-ngapali circuit. Mrak OO needs no permits as also Sittway.

Most of Shan State and Kachin State as well as Chin State require special permits which can be obtained through a travel agency with a months notice
