Getting There

The fastest and safest way of reaching Yangon and thus Myanmar ( as it is the main entry into the country, you can enter by land from Thailand and exit to China or enter Mandlay by air from Chiang Mai or Bagan by air from Thailand ) is to take one of three daily flights offered by Thai Airways, one of which is a codeshare with Myanmar International Airways.

There are other flights of course: Indian airlines from Calcutta, Biman from Dacca, Qatar airways from Doha, MAS from KL, Silk Air from Singapore.

Land entry from India is not yet an easy possibility but the future is bright in this regard. Tachilek can be entered from Thailand, afer crossing the border. Many parts of the country require special permits but they are not hard to get with the help of an efficient tour agency with a month's notice
