Beaches in Penang
Edit ThisThe Penang Beaches are probably among Malaysia’s top attractions that thousands of tourists visit each year. While the scenic beaches of the city are good locations for swimming and other sports activities, most of them have large recreational areas where you can practice archery or relax with the soothing spas.
Batu Ferringhi
Being the second most admired tourist hot spot in the country, Batu Ferringhi has perhaps the smoothest sandy beach in Malaysia. Aside from swimming, the place hosts many water sports activities, including windsurfing and parasailing. The pristine waters and relaxing spas drive in more and more tourists every year. Batu Ferringhi has a night market where you can buy cool souvenirs. The Ship, a famous restaurant within the vicinity, offers good food as the crew and chefs wear maritime uniforms.
Teluk Bahang
If you don't like the crowded Batu Ferringhi, the Teluk Bahang is a nice alternative that has a quiet environment and calm atmosphere. The beaches located in this area have a rocky shore where the cool sea breeze comes in when the sun is high. Teluk Bahang has large camping grounds where you can do some star gazing when the night falls. Seafood served in the area tastes great, as it comes fresh from the sea at the nearby coastal villages.
Tanjung Bungah
The sandy beaches of Tanjung Bungah make visiting Penang fun and exciting as you can play beach volleyball, archery and soccer in the large recreational areas. You can either swim in the sea itself, or in the pools nearby. Major events for water sports are often held here, as the waves and winds are in perfect moderation. From time to time, you can watch dragon boat teams practicing on the water. Tanjung Bungah has many affordable rooms so you can enjoy your stay, even on a tight budget.
Pulau Aman (Aman Island)
Literally translated as the "Island of Peace," the Pulau Aman is a beach resort with a serene environment and crystal clear waters. The whole area is enclosed in the rich rainforest where a variety of plants can be seen. From Tambun, take a brief boat ride to reach Pulau Aman.
Pantai Teluk Kampi (Teluk Kampi Beach)
Located in the Penang National Park, Teluk Kampi is a relaxing attraction where you can swim, camp and watch a wide variety of birds. You can observe newly-hatched turtles roaming around the beach if you are lucky enough to visit within the months of February and April.
