Crocodile Farm and Miri Zoo


The crocodile farm and Miri zoo should be on your list of must see places. This is the first and largest crocodile farm in the northern region of the Sarawak. It houses more than 3,000 salt and fresh water crocodiles and offers shows at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The zoo area features several exotic animals.

Miri City Fan Park


The Miri City Fan Park covers 26 acres and include a promenade, a musical fountain, an amphitheater, a library and a cultural center. The park's inner courtyard walls are decorated with murals depicting the local cultural heritage.

Taman Awam Miri


Taman Awam Miri is located 3 km from the town center. It boasts a huge modern play structure for kids. You can walk on a suspension bridge that is set between towers to reach an observation platform. This is great for older kids and for people who are not afraid of heights. The park also offers several amenities, such as a floral garden, fountains and stone carvings, a souvenir shop and a snack bar.

Miri Heritage Center


If you like natural history and crafts, you will fall in love with the Miri Heritage Center. The building was formerly a community hall where weddings and state dinners took place. In one of the wings, you can visit an art gallery, and a cafe is planned for the other wing. In the main hall, you can see and purchase amazing local handicrafts, such as pottery, wood carvings, hat and mat making, bead crafts and textile crafts.

Lian Hua San Temple


The Lian Hua San Temple (Lotus Hill) is approximately a 15-minute drive away from the town center. It was built in 2000 and is one of the largest Taoist temple in South East Asia and features traditional Chinese religious architecture. You can also visit the Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple. It was built in 1913 close to the Miri river and is used as a sacred place of worship.

Grand Old Lady”

While in Miri, you should visit the “Grand Old Lady." This was the first oil well ever built in Malaysia, and was in use for 62 years. It is now a historical monument. On site, everyone can try working the oil man's tool and experience first hand how difficult it must have been for the oil workers in 1910. You can also climb to the top of the tower and enjoy a panoramic view of Miri and the surrounding countryside.
