7 Day Itinerary in Miri

The entire Miri 7 day itinerary usually starts at the break of day, so wake up early enough. It's always good to familiarize yourself with the town's history first.

Day 1 – Canada Hill/Crocodile Farm

Start your day by touring the city of Miri and a drive to Canada Hill, which is an excellent lookout point over the whole city and its coastline. Malaysia's first oil well, discovered in 1910 and now known as The Grand old Lady, sits as a relic on Canada Hill. On Kuala Baram road, visit Miri Crocodile Farm cum mini zoo and the Asean Bridge, which links Miri and Brunei. On your way back to the city, stop at the biggest Taoist Temple in South East Asia. Visit Miri City Fan recreation park, as it is one of the most frequented.

Day 2 – Miri Heritage Centre/Iban Longhouses  

A visit to the Miri Heritage Centre is a good way to start another day. You can shop for handicrafts. Proceed to Tamu Muhibbah, a local market selling jungle produce and products. In the afternoon pay a visit to the Iban (famed headhunters of Borneo) longhouses known as Gerempung Indu, where traditional ceremonies were held in the olden days.

Day 3 – Niah National Park

Leave early morning for a scenic drive to Niah National Park. You must register and check in. Have some lunch, then cross the Niah River and take one of the jungle trails available in the park. Spend a quiet evening and dinner at your hotel.

Day 4 – Gunung Mulu National Park

A day trip to the Gunung Mulu National Park is a true adventure. This park is famous for its caves and the expeditions. You will get to see its limestone karst formations, enormous caves, rock pinnacles, cliffs and gorges. The park is also home to an enormous colony of wrinkle-lipped bats.

Day 5 - Mulu Summit

Mulu Park provides guided hikes up the mountain. Along the route you will find forest huts at 3 camps that provide shelter, cooking facilities (cooking utensils, stove, cutlery), toilets and water (rain water).

Day 6 – Mulu Summit

After an early morning breakfast at 8:00 am, prepare for the trek back to the park base camp to head back to Mulu for a pleasant and relaxing evening.

Day 7 – Taman Selera Beach

Your last day can be well spent at Taman Selera, which is one of the most visited beaches in Miri. A great place to go for a picnic, and a lot of have fun.
