Malaysia has nearly 10 months of monsoon season and an average rainfall of 2000 mm (79 inches) a year which is approximately double the rainfall of temperate climates. The southwest monsoon season starts in late May to September and the northeast monsoon, which is the stronger of the 2, occurs from November to March. However, Melaka's diverse demographics mean whenever you visit you will be witness to many local festivals and celebrations. It is important to remember to dress modestly when attending local religious festivals--if you are unsure, ask a hotel clerk or tour guide.

When to go to religious services and celebrations always be respectful of the people and their culture and dress modestly.
