Shopping in Melaka

A small historic port city situated in West Malaysia, Melaka is considered as tourist habitat par excellence. You can shop around for antiques, spices, fresh fruits and vegetables and more.
Melaka Old Chinatown
Jonker Street is the perfect place to buy antiques. This is an antique shopper’s haven; you will find different antiques and artifacts dating back to 300 years. However the houses on Jonker Street are mostly built during the 17th century, so simply walking down the streets will give you a piece of history that you cannot buy anywhere. There are several art galleries and souvenir shops along the Jonker Street. So wander around and pick up a few antique items to take home with you.
Melaka's New Chinatown
Melaka's New Chinatown is situated along the eastern banks of the River Melaka. New Chinatown offers shoppers a wide selection of shops. Madam King’s Department Store offers ready-made clothes, jewelry, fabrics, herbs, plastic pots and flowers, sundries and more. You can find several good bargains at these shops.
Mahkota Parade
The Mahkota Parade shopping complex is a family friendly, 4-story entertainment and shopping center. It houses a number of shopping stores, food stalls, book shops, souvenir shops, a bowling alley and a Cineplex. The Parkson Grand, on the other hand, is a major department store that operates within the Mahkota Parade. You will be able to shop for almost anything at the Mahkota Parade.
Jalan Hang Tuah
Jalan Hang Tuah is the main commercial and financial street of Melaka. Within this district you will find different banks, hotels and shopping centers like Fajar Shopping Centre, Melaka Center Market and Khelass Department Store. The most prominent shopping center in this are is the Hang Tuah Mall. It was conceptualized to meet, if not surpass, Kuala Lumpur’s Bintang Walk. The Hang Tuah Mall area houses different shopping stores and hosts exciting activities for visitors. Enjoy free Wi-Fi internet access at the Hang Tuah Mall.
Bukit Baru Area
The Bukit Baru Area is also
known as New Hill. Bukit Baru Area is a suburban residential area where you
will find the Jusco Shopping Center and Kota Mas Shopping Center. Both these
shopping centers are popular shopping complexes and house many international
food franchises and upper class stores like A&W, The Store and Telekoms.
This is a great place to walk around and shop for things you need.
