Senior Travel in Melaka
Edit ThisThere are several Melaka Senior Travel ideas for visitors planning a holiday in Melaka. Here are a few suggestions.
Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary
Explore wonderful creatures in Melaka's Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary located in Ayer Keroh. Seniors will find it very relaxing and interesting to see beautiful and majestic butterflies flying around the premises. There are more than 200 species in this butterfly farm, as well as a wide collection of reptiles and insects.
St. Paul's Church
Seniors can visit the historical ruins of a former Portuguese chapel located at St. Paul Hills. St. Paul Church was later transformed into a burial ground. This is also the burial place of St. Francis Xavier. A visit to the church will help seniors spend a few moments in the sanctuary and receive strength and inspiration.
Muara Sungai Duyung-Fishing Village
Seniors will surely enjoy the serene environment in Muara Sungai Duyung. This is the right place to come and experience life in an authentic fishing village. Visitors to the village will be able to watch the locals catch fish, and repair their boats and fishing nets. You will also be able to go fishing with the fishermen if you are daring enough. You can even buy some fresh fish as they unload the catch for the day. However, be warned, this could be a bit more expensive that buying it at the supermarket. You can also enjoy some of the freshest seafood at the two popular ikan bakar restaurants in Muara Sungai Duyung.
Jonker Street
Jonker Street is not only a shopper's paradise but a historical and cultural site as well. This is one of Melaka's most popular streets and is home to various shops, boutiques and restaurants. Some of the oldest houses in Melaka are located here. You will also be able to see a few antique shops that feature artifacts and antique pieces. If you happen to visit Melaka during the Chinese New Year, Jonker Street is one place you should not miss.
Melaka Revolving Tower (Menara Taming Sari)
This is one of Melaka's latest tourism hot spots. The Melaka
Revolving Tower (Menara Taming Sari) located in Banda Hilir was opened
to the public in 2008. This 110 m tower has a cabin that revolves 360
degrees and can accommodate 80 people at one time. Seniors will
enjoy the magnificent bird's eye view of Melaka from here. There are also
some cafés and restaurants here, including a few shops that sell
