Nightlife and Entertainment in Kuching

Edit This

Kuching nightlife has an eclectic mix of entertainment to suit all tastes. Options range from slow-paced evenings strolling the waterfront to adrenaline-pumping nights dancing at local nightspots.

Waterfront

Take a relaxing stroll and enjoy the Kuching Waterfront during the nighttime. It's a relaxing part of town where families, couples and young people can enjoy a pleasant night out.  If you are feeling peckish, choose from the many restaurants open for dinner along the Main Bazaar of the waterfront.

Bars

If you love partying the night away, then head to the Travillion Pub Centre in Petanak. The Travillion is a popular hangout for the young at heart. It offers an extensive number of bars and lounges where you can dance till the early hours of the morning. Drinking dens include the Check-In, Paragon, Barz!ng, Pavillion, and the Core Concept Bar. As well as house music and techno, you can also dance to the beat of Chinese pop. Or, if karaoke is more your style, drop in to the Crown Karaoke Pub to sing your heart out.

There are some good bars congregated around the Bukit Mata area. Affectionately known to the locals as St Pica, the Piccadilly's Music Cafe is a lively place where friends can meet up over a beer or two. While in the neighborhood, check out the Cottage for its special themed nights or the Eagle's Nest for its spacious, relaxed atmosphere.

Restaurants

Eating out is a favorite pastime among locals, and family and friends can often be found catching up over a tasty meal at a favorite restaurant. Kuching restaurants offer a tantalizing array of cuisines to choose from including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Western food.

Open air dining, Kuching style, is an experience not to be missed.  Try an open-air restaurant to share a piping hot steamboat with friends, or sample local delights at the open-air markets opposite the Electra House Shopping Centre in the city.

Tribal Dance Evenings

Large hotels such as the Holiday Inn and the Hilton hold regular Dyak tribal dance evenings to showcase talented local performers.  It makes for an entertaining night, as the dancers perform lively routines to the accompaniment of orchestral music.  An evening of cultural delights can be nicely finished off with a nightcap at Cats City or Latino, Taman Sri Sarawak, opposite the Hilton.
