Beaches in Kuching
Edit This
Kuching
beaches are world renowned for their beauty. The city is very
popular amongst tourists for that reason, and resorts are everywhere in
this charming beach paradise. Kuching is a jewel located East of
Malaysia, removed from the main Malaysian peninsula.
Damai Beach
One of the main beaches in Kuching, Damai Beach is packed with tourists during the peak season. Damai Beach represents the success of Kuching's tourism industry, having three world-class resorts established along the periphery. The beach itself is a joy to be in, being a stereotypical tropical beach - blue skies, white beaches, turquoise waters and complete with palm trees. Those looking for a true luxury can choose the Holiday Inn Resort, which owns a part of the beach and allows guests into the area for private use. Be sure to take note, though, the sheer popularity of the beach brings about a crowd during the peak season.
Santubong Beach
Near the Damai Beach is Santubong Beach, located some 30 minutes away from the city centre. The Santubong Beach is less populated than Damai, and can allow for some reprieve from the crowding. This is not to say that Santubong is not a beautiful beach - the place is picture perfect, providing the same qualities as Damai without the overpopulation. The only downside is that Santubong Beach has far fewer accommodation and dining options compared to Damai. Being less crowded has lent Santubong a slightly rustic charm to the beach, and it would prove a worthwhile visit for anyone looking for a beach escape.
Talang Talang Islands
Another one of Kuching's sun-kissed beaches, the Talang Talang Islands are popular among dive enthusiasts and scuba divers, with its extensive range of coral and marine life. The Islands are also known for turtle breeding, and during the turtle nesting season, locals offer turtle observation tours. The Talang Talang Islands offer a glimpse of Malaysia's ecotourism at its best. Many of the guided tours run by the government go into the funding of turtle research. Picture perfect Kuching is truly a paradise on earth. Luxurious and stunning resort hotels, fine, sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, Kuching beaches are indeed some of the most outstanding ones in the world. With its extensive number of beaches, each with its own charm, tourists will be spoiled for choice.
