Cruises in Kuala Lumpur

Edit This

Kuala Lumpur may be listed as a port of call on your cruise ship itinerary but your ship will actually dock at Port Klang, about 90 minutes southwest of Kuala Lumpur, or KL, as it is sometimes affectionately known. KL is the largest city in Malaysia and overlooks the Klang and Gombak River. Water activities abound in this fascinating city!

Major Cruise Lines

Princess, Royal Caribbean, Regent Seven Seas, Star Cruises (headquartered in Port Klang) and Cunard all have itineraries that include KL as a port of call. Cruises that include a stop in KL start at 3 nights and cover mainly Malaysia and nearby cities. Some cruise lines that stop in KL offer world voyages up to 108 nights! Departure points for these cruises are as varied as the exotic cities they visit. Dover, Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore, Rome, Sydney or Fort Lauderdale may actually be where you begin your sea adventure.

White Water Rafting

White water rafting on the Selangor River is a very popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. Located about 1-½ hours from KL, there are several rafting adventures to choose from, all with trained and experience guides to lead you. Other white water rafting excursions explore the Sedum, Padas and the Kiulu rivers. Costs per person start at $95.00. Rafting adventures are within a 2-hour driving distance and transportation is usually included in your ticket price. More information can be obtained at tourist kiosks and most hotels.

Ferry Tour

Nearby Crab Island or “Pulau Ketam”, famous for its “floating village”, is a 30-minute ferry ride from Port Klang. This island is home to a bustling fishing community that boasts the beautiful Lake Gardens and the magnificent Sultan Salahuddin mosque. The excursion is about 4 hours in duration and information and schedule can be found in Port Klang.

Sightseeing Cruises

Just southwest of the city center of Kuala Lumpur is the Mines Shopping Fair. The shopping fair or mall is connected to Mines Resort City. Resort City includes a beautiful lake and scenic grounds. Many mini cruises depart from the shopping fair and resort. Choose from a Sunset Dinner Cruise, a Massage Cruise or a Sightseeing Cruise. All are about 1-½ hours in length and some include meals with choices from Japanese, Italian, fusion and Middle Eastern cuisines. All information can be found at the Mines Shopping Fair.
