Passport and Visas

If you plan to visit Kluang you must possess a valid passport and travel documents that are valid for at least 6 months from the date of your intended journey. Belonging to the tropical zone, Kluang has 2 major climates--the dry season (summer) and the wet season (rainy). The dry summer is from May to September while the wet season is from November to March. The best time to visit Kluang is during summer when there is no rain.

Taxes

Tourists who are staying in Kluang for 72 hours or more are exempted from paying taxes for the following merchandise: 1 quart of liquor, souvenirs and gifts worth not more than RM 200, 50 cigars or cigarettes, 225 grams of tobacco, electrical and/or battery-operated gadgets. Duty free item purchases can be made throughout Malaysia and include perfume, cosmetics, watches, lighters, cameras and pens.

Currency

The official currency used in Kluang is Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Just like any other Asian country, Malaysia strictly follows their Currency Exchange Control Order.  So if you are a non-resident traveler, you are not allowed to import currency of more than RM 1,000. Importing a total amount of more than $10,000 must be declared and registered using the IMM26 form. You can change your local currency into Ringgit Malaysia at the authorized money changers or at banks. Most places will accept credit cards for payments.
