1. Tea Plantations
One of the must dos in Cameron Highlands involves exploring the beautiful tea estates here. Several tea plantations are dotted around the highland with Boh Tea Plantation, Sungai Palas, Bharat Tea Estate topping the list. The cool climate of the highland is favorable for growing tea leaves and the size of tea leaves resembles the palm of an adult. You may visit the tea factories or see the video presentations to learn about the process of tea-making. 2. Butterfly Garden and Butterfly Farm
The Butterfly Garden and the Butterfly Farm are both situated next to each other at 2 km distance from Brinchang town. The Butterfly Garden is home to a variety of insects, reptiles, mammals and birds including the red mountain rat snake, giant gecko, huge Malayan horned frog, tortoises of different kinds and orchid mantis. Besides, you will find colorful butterflies fluttering everywhere. You can also spot the national butterfly of Malaysia, the Raja Brooke butterfly, which is quite rare and comes under the list of endangered species. The Butterfly Farm also has the similar collection of creatures and is worth your time.
3. Trekking through the Jungles in Cameron Highlands
An adventurous expedition through the jungles of Cameron Highlands is one of the must dos for bold-hearted people, not for the squeamish. The highland has both easy and dangerous routes for trekking. If you venture upon the treacherous trekking route then you must be accompanied by an experienced guide. The most difficult trekking route is the one that leads you to the mountain Brinchang at 2032 meters of altitude. The trail starting from MARDI and going toward Gunung Beremban is another treacherous route fraught with risks as the roads are quite steep and you might also get lost in the trail. The most frequented trails are the ones leading to Robinson Waterfall and Parit Waterfall.
4. Cactus Valley
Cactus Valley is a must see place in the Cameron Highlands. It boasts of a broad spectrum of about 450 types of cactus. Some of the cacti are as old as 60 years. Aside from cactus, the Cactus Valley also showcases diverse range of flowers, fruits and vegetable plants like fuchsia, hibiscus, roses, camellia, strawberries, cherries, apples and tomatoes. 5. Honey Bee Apiary
There are plenty of honey bee farms in Cameron Highlands with EE Feng Gu Honey Bee Farm topping them all. Visiting the apiary would benefit your knowledge as you will obtain a great deal of information about the production of honey by the bees and the extraction of honey from beehives. The workers there are cordial and will answer your queries. You will also get the chance to buy different honey products.
