The oldest structures in this pre and intra Angkorian site are 6th century. Much is still intact. Located on a hill with beautiful flowering trees, it is quite picturesque. There is a great view from the top. Look for the crocodile and elephant up the top and the holy spring. The associated museum has a number of artifacts and some English explanations of the various figures you will see.
Sabaidee GHII offers a day trip from Pakse to Champassak, Wat Phu and another associated site complete with visit to a local village and the mekong. A 4WD car, driver, guide, plenty of more..
