Pansea Phou Vao
Edit ThisThe Pansea Phou Vao, the prime hotel in the heritage city of Luang
Prabang, nestles on the hill of Kites overlooking the majestic Mekong
scenery. Set slightly away from downtown Luang Prabang, which can be
reached via a hotel shuttle or a 15-minute walk, the hotel is tranquil
and relaxing. Rooms are located in one of several small
buildings centered around a lovely fountain and
infinity-edged pool, set amidst frangipani and other tropical
trees. Rooms are large, decorated with rosewood floors and
native Lao textiles, and have balconies with chaises and
beds with a romantic mosquito net canopy (less romantic,
however, is the fact that you will likely want to use the
net). The restaurant serves French & Lao cuisine either
outside overlooking the pool, or in the polished wooden dining
room. It's more formal than the rest of town, so plan to change
out of your exploring clothes to dine. The hotel has a terminal
with internet access in the public area.
Now part of Orient Express Hotels they recently added a Spa which is
first class. Treatments are a lot more expensive than in town but the
experience is worth it. An hour massage is about $40 USD which is a
deal comared to other 5 Star resorts, even though you can get one in
town for $5-10.
