Teleuk Dalam is the capital of the Sourthern province of Nias island (also called: "Nias Selatan").
The small town is not spectacular but it is the gateway to the beaches in the Southern part of the island, which are popular with surfers.
It is now about 2 hours from Gunungsitoli (the capital of Nias) by road, as the road has improved considerably due to the reconstruction efforts by the international community following the Tsunami in Dec 2004.
