Payak Site
Payak site is one of the classic petirtaan sites in Yogyakarta, which until now can still be seen. This site is located a few kilometers east of Temple Mantup, precisely in the region Payak, Baturetno, Banguntapan, Bantul. Structure of the remaining buildings of white stone pond measuring 312 x 124 cm equipped U berdenah walls and water channels measuring 25 x 25 cm in the wall of the southwest side of the pond. At the bottom of the pool, there are drainage holes.
On the northwest side of the wall there are niches for statues of the god Siva white stone materials. At the time of the research conducted in 1980-1983, under the statue was found in a container with a hole peripih of 17 fruit that symbolizes Wastupurusamandala, which is a diagram that serves as metaphysics and building design. Peripih consist of gold and silver pieces.
This petirtaan building seems to have an important role in religious ceremonies in the classical period because water is one important element in the ceremony held at the holy places like temples. This is evidenced by the findings peripih and fragments of pottery that most shaped jug. Petirtaan building of white stone, on the basis of style Siva statue, supposedly dating from the ninth century AD.
