Natrabu
Edit ThisThis is one of the leading Padang (or Nasi Padang) restaurants, Padang being the main city of West Sumatra. The special feature of Padang food is not so much the style of cooking as the way it is presented. There is no menu. Soon after you sit down the waiters will bring a large selection of dishes to your table and leave them there. Don't worry, you don't have to pay for them, and please don't get angry because you did not order them. You just pick from the ones you like the look of, and spoon it onto your own plate. You get charged for any dish you eat, either completely or just a bit. The ones you do not touch are not charged. At the end of the meal the waiters count up the used plates to make your bill. A great experience for bold eaters who like spicey food, but not really for those who need to know what a dish consists of - you may get brain, liver, and other odd innards as well as chicken, beef, egg, fish and vegetable dishes. Some foreigners love Padang food, others hate it.
The restaurants are usually owned communually by the staff, and service is usually pretty good.
