Baliem Valley Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeWamena town is the place where you start exploring the valley. It is a spread out place that has some modern facilities but you will still see men and women in tradtional dress (meaning with penis gourds and grass skirts respectively).
Wesaput is very close to Wamena and can be reached easily on foot. Pugima is a one hour wlak form Wesaput. Sinatma has great trails for trekking around Sungai Wamena and a swinging brigde.
To see the East of the Valley the best base is Jiwika - go there by bemo. There are caves nearby in Gua Kotiloa and Gua Wikuda.
Note that Wamena is an expensive place to stay because everything is flown in from Jayapura.
