Day Trips in Tanjung Pinang
Edit ThisTanjung Pinang day trips are plentiful with many options
including exploring neighboring small towns or large metro areas, all
within reach by simple ferry transport. Select what kind of day trip you
wish to take and begin planning your exciting day trip from Tanjung
Pinang.
Penyenget
A small island of just 2 1/2 kilometers, Penyenget is located just
offshore from Tanjung Pinang. From Tanjung Pinang, hire a small sampan
boat to ferry you across the ocean where you can spend the day visiting
the sites of the island. Start at the Riau Archipelago historical center
and then travel on foot to see an old mosque, historical ruins and the
resting places of the monarchs that once ruled this tiny island.
Batam
A ferry can easily be taken to the island and city of Batam to explore
this lively neighboring island. Known for its nightlife, the island is
also famous for its family friendly resort area. Head to the Waterfront
City area on the Western side of the island to hit the big attractions such
as go-kart racing, water sports, swimming on the beach or playing
soccer.
Singapore
This major metro area can be easily reached by ferries throughout the
day. Explore the beaches, head to Chinatown, Little India or Kampong
Glam (Arab Street) for an experience in international cuisine, or check
out one of the city's great museums or natural attractions. There is
tons of shopping here and many great sights to check out on your day
trip to this world class city. Be sure to book your ferry ticket early
and arrive early to the dock, especially on a holiday or weekend, to
ensure that you get your seat.
Johor Bahru
Also connecting to Bintan by ferry, this rapidly growing Malaysian city
has many historical landmarks that are interesting to visit and make a
great day trip from Tanjung Pinang. Be sure to check out the Sultan Abu
Bakar Royal Palace Museum, the Johor Bahru Art Gallery and the Saleng
Zoo. There are also many golf courses, water sports and cinemas here to
keep you entertained on your day trip.
Try one of these ferry rides to a stunning new destination to spend a
day away from Tanjung Pinang and you will be happy that you did. The
stark contrasts of surrounding cities, especially those in different
countries, is interesting to see during your stay here.
