Tanjung Pinang Budget Travel
The most budget travel way to arrive in Tanjung Pinang is by taking a ferry. It is possible to fly directly into the city's Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport, however there are only domestic flights here, increasing your overall airfare cost.
The least expensive way to get to Tanjung Pinang is to fly directly
to Singapore and take a ferry across to Bintan. There are 5 to 7 ferries
crossing daily and the cost is $32 for a 1-way ticket and $54 for a
return.
Upon arrival in Singapore, be sure to stop by the ferry
office and reconfirm your tickets for travel before the day of your
scheduled departure. This is especially important when traveling to
Tanjung Pinang on weekends or holidays when the ferry can be filled to
capacity. This cannot be done at the ferry terminal, but must be done instead at the
ferry company's offices which are not located near the ferry.
Once
in Tanjung Pinang, there are many forms of travel that you can use to
get around town. Taxis, motorcycle taxis, minibuses and boats are all
available and generally cost under a dollar. For taxis and motorcycle
taxis, be sure to negotiate a rate before boarding. Minibuses and boats
generally have a fixed rate depending on the length of your trip.

Pinang. Fishing is one of the things this area is know for and its
seafood is inexpensive and delicious. Crab and mollusk are particularly

restaurants for under $2. There are countless other national delicacies
available widely throughout the city and waitstaff at restaurants can be
very helpful in steering you towards some of the area's specialties.

For just $4 a night, travelers can
stay at Bong's Homestay, a clean and no-frills backpacker accommodation.
Bintan Harmoni and Travellers Lodge also have inexpensive rooms
starting around $15 for a room with a fan and around $20 for an
air-conditioned room.
