Barelang Internet Cafe charges Rp10k /hr.- located behind Steps Music Lounge.

Located at the Steps Music Lounge, Barelang Internet Café charges only 10K rp/hour and features fast high-speed internet and a dozen computers.  Barelang’s opens early and closes late. Although not much has been written in depth about this café, Barelang’s has been cited in over a dozen reputable travel guides as a favorite. For directions, just ask a local how to get to Steps Music Lounge, and then go behind the venue to find Barelang. The price is cheap and connection fast!

Batam Computer Corner

Computer Corner features use of a scanner, printer, and fax.  Currently they have three machines connected to LAN and Webcam.  You can also get wireless with your laptop. The staff are friendly and helpful. Computer Corner is open from 9am to 8pm Monday through Friday, and 12pm to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday. Take a taxi or walk to Carnival Mall and go to stall 1B10.

Lucy’s Oar House

Lucy’s is a local Batam pub with a few computers in the back corner, featuring high speed internet and printing. These computers only get used a few hours a day, so chances are there’s space for when you arrive. The best part? You can enjoy your happy hour beer while reading your email.  Lucy’s charges 40,000 Rp/hour. A bit more expensive than the others, but again, you can enjoy your drink too.

Planet Holiday Hotel

A favorite hotel in Batam, Planet Holiday Hotel offers free Wifi internet to those with laptops. You can enjoy a meal at the bar or just sit by the pool and enjoy a fruity drink while reading your business emails. The wireless is free of charge, but staff expect you to purchase at least a drink while browsing the web. If you are coming with others who don’t have a computer, ask the staff if you can pay to use one of their computers in the business center. Prices will be a bit higher than at an internet café on the street, but the connection is quick and reliable.
