Four different ferry companies have hourly departures from Singapore's Harbourfront (formerly WTC -World Trade Centre) to Sekupang (Skp) and Batam Centre (BC) in Batam. The best boats are operated by Berlian and Penguin. Batam is one hour behind Singapore. The ferry trip to Sekupang takes 50 min; to Batam Center, about 70min.
Return ferry tickets cost about Sin$30 return in Singpore and $20 in Batam.
Taxi Tip: In the WTC, change Sin$8 into Rp35,000 to pay for the taxi from BC /Skpto Nagoya. At night, better to change at least Sin$200
Passport Requirements
To enter Indonesia, your passport must be valid for 6 months. Holders of passports from United States of America, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Finland, Hungary, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Norway, France, Poland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Taiwan and Portugal can a get a VOA (Visa On Arrival):US$10/3days; $25/30days.
Bring exact US money or will get ripped off on the exchange rate. Members of ASEAN countries don’t have to pay. All others have to get a visa from the Indonesia embassy before arriving.
