Minibuses, taxis and ojeks
Edit This
Most people get around Batam on fixed-routeminibuses (about Rp. 3000-6000, depending on length) or by taxis.
There are no "official" taxis, none are metered, and you will have to haggle quite a lot. The rich Singaporeans tend to overpay, and have thus spoiled the market. A 15 minute ride (say, from Nagoya Hill to Sukajadi) should cost about Rp. 30,000. Avoid taxis that sit out front of malls, and don't let porters carry your bags, as they expect tips.
Ojeks, or motorcycle taxis, are the last option. You will often get a smelly helmet that offers no protection. About Rp. 10-15,000 for a 15 minute ride.
