Bird watching: egret at kokokan village

Edit This

Some people say this kokokan [balinese] or blekok [javanese] also known as heron. but by looking the bird itself and some sources from the books, this bird catagorized as egret.

the best time to see them flying and back to the nests at the trees is about 5 - 6 pm at kokokan village, nearby the sawah [rice fields] and main road.  there are several view points develops by locals in the centre of sawah and they provided a book to be read [not to be sold anyway :)]. you can also enjoy hot coffee or tea here while awaiting kokokan with binoculars.

enroute from ubud, jalan raya to direction jalan hanoman but passing through peliatan and turn to the left from a monument in the intersection ubud-gianyar-peliatan. about 5 km away can be seen icon of kokokan village, small monument of the egrets. from here, turn to the left and hike up about 2 km away.
