Beaches in Denpasar
Edit ThisThe Denpasar Beaches are the most popular attraction that the city has to offer. Not only do they offer visitors the chance to walk along a white sandy beach, but Denpasar also offers the best surfing beaches in all of Bali. The white sandy beaches are perfect for sunbathing or for building sand castles. Knowing what each beach has to offer makes it easier to decide where you should go.
Sanur Beach
This beach is about a 10-minute drive from Denpasar, but is worth it if you are looking for a calm beach. The waves at Sanur are calmer than your surfing beaches, which makes this a quieter beach because the surfers are not out in force. Most people come to this beach to sunbathe or to view the sunrise. You will also see quite a few people out jogging along the coastline.
Kuta Beach
If you are looking for a great place to sit and watch the sunset then Kuta Beach is where you will want to go. Kuta Beach is actually the number one sunset spot in Bali. Kuta beach is one of the most popular beaches in Denpasar because of the various opportunities it presents to tourists. If you enjoy watching airplanes land you can go down to the end of the beach that borders the airport’s runway so you can watch a variety of planes land. If surfing is more to your liking you will find a variety of waves that will test your surfing skills.
Canggu Beach
This is not the place to go if you are looking for a white sandy beach because the beach is covered in black sand. If you are looking for a great place to go swimming you are also advised to stay away because swimming is not very safe on this beach. This beach is best for people who are looking for the best surfing spots around. The surfing spots located along this beach are very challenging, which will give some of the best surfers a run for their money.
Jimbaran Beach
This is actually two beaches, one goes to the west and the other goes to the east. The beach that is on the west faces Jimbaran Bay, while the beach on the east faces Benoa Harbor. The beaches are lined with a variety of resorts and seafood kiosks. The kiosks provide tourists with a chance to pick the live seafood that they wish to eat. Once the seafood is selected it is grilled on the spot over coconut husks.
Nusa Dua
If you are looking for a beach that provides you with a variety of water activities Nusa Dua is the best choice. At Nusa Dua you can partake in surfing, but you will want to stick to the northern and southern part of the beach because that is where the waves are the best for surfing. Snorkeling and diving are also popular water activities that are enjoyed on this beach because of how clear the water is.
