Day Trips

Edit This

Tranquil and tropical Bali , Indonesia is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. This spiritual Hindu Island is so small that everything is a day trip. Bali is one of those fantastic destinations where luxury and low prices are synonymous.

Renting a Motorbike

Renting a motorbike in Bali is the best way to get around. It may be a little intimidating at first, but adventurous budget travelers will save money and increase their independence by renting a motorbike. It’s really cheap and so is gasoline. The Balinese ride all over the island on their motorbikes and you can too. Riding in the cities of Legian and Denpasar is a hectic rushm, but once you are out in the countryside, it’s a relaxing cruise. Outside the city and in between gas stations gasoline is sold in huts on the side of the road in liquor bottles. Don’t worry, most of the time it’s clean.

Ubud

The town of Ubud in Bali, Indonesia is the bohemian epicenter on the island. Park your motorbike for the day, hang your helmets on your handlebars and walk around. You will stumble upon many mystical Hindu temples and statues of Hindu deities around town. Ubud has reasonably priced boutique stores and a much cheaper but also far more chaotic buyers market. Bargain down to at least half the given price. There are many great restaurants here and they are fancy and cheap. There are also used book stores, internet cafes, vegetarian restaurants and a Monkey Forest. Things to buy here are purses, silk scarves, comforters and journals.

Legian – Kuta

Legian and Kuta are next to each other outside of Denpasar in Bali, Indonesia. You won’t notice when you pass from one to the other. Vendors are the most aggressive in this area. The beaches here are huge and there are surfing lessons available. On the beach you can get a massage or play a game of chess. The sunsets in Bali are spectacular, both locals and tourists gather together in drum circles to honor it every night. Don’t be surprised when everyone around you applauds when the sun drops below the horizon. Things to buy here are the jewelry and drums and just about everything.

Blue Lagoon

For spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving take a day trip to Blue Lagoon. You can go in a group or hire your own private guide. You can also learn to skin dive which is a happy medium between snorkeling and scuba. Blue Lagoon also has many delicious restaurants. Any place that is offering a fresh catch of the day is the best place to eat. If you forgot your beach sarongs don’t worry there are plenty for sale in this town.
