Practical Information
Edit ThisInternet. There are some internet cafes in the center of town.
ATM. There are a number of Banks that operate ATMs, such as BCA or BII, also mostly in the town center.
Transport. There are numerous motorcycle taxis and "becaks", which are considered pretty safe. There are taxi companies though only a few.
Restaurants. There is a handful of restaurants catering for the expats working in Banda Aceh. Some of them have very good seafood, such as the Ujung Bate Restaurant and the Tropicana Restaurant. Others are the Country Steakhouse (with two branches), and Cashwells Coffe Shop in the center of town.
Health Care. Health care is limited in Banda Aceh (and other towns). Usually, expatriate staff fly out to Medan or Jakarta for emergencies. However, there is a newly established emergency unit (Australia supported) at the local Zainal Abidin Hospital.
Pharamacies. There are a number of well stocked pharmacies in town, though they may not have all the usual items.
Power Supply. Power supply can be erratic at times.
