Seeing Hands Massage

Edit This
If you've spent a few days clambering the Angkor temples and travelling over the Pol Pot...er Pot Hole roads in the region, your back may be crying out for deep massage. The 5 star hotels make a big play of their day spa treatments, but for a genuine Khmer style massage, which is Shiatsu in style, and related to the almost chiropractic style of Thai Massage, then a visit to Seeing Hands is well recommended. Seeing Hands is operated by locals who are blind - and their business provides an income stream for them (no welfare here) but also great value for the visitor. You're shown to a small changing room where you change into light cotton pyjamas and then laid down on a massage table. There are three masseurs, and when I went I was pummelled and reshaped by a guy in his 30s. "Is this too firm?" he asked as he dug into my shoulder blades. "No," I gasped. For the next half hour I got the deepest tissue treatment I've ever experienced - (you can choose lighter) and walked out feeling worked-over but incredibly relaxed. These masseurs are good, and the ethical operation of Seeing Hands makes the experience even better. A few dollars here versus $30 or more for the same treatment at the big hotels.
