Anil and Marcus Dias who owns the two houses in the premises sheltered all the tourists from the deluged guesthouses and local people after the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami for three days.

tourists are leaving a place which has become very special to them over the last three days.

It's known as Rock House, and at first it was special simply because it's a guesthouse built on the highest point in Unawatuna Bay – a tourist resort area which has been wiped out.

But it became much more than that when Rock House opened its doors for free to hundreds of tourists and locals, and became a makeshift hospital treating hundreds of people.

TOURIST 1: They've opened their house to everybody, gave all their food, all their drink, everything anyone needed. But there's one particular paediatrician here from maybe Australia or London, I'm not sure, and she's treated everybody. She's treated every single injury in this place. We've took her up into the jungle, up and down, and she's got her own family, husband and kids here too – two young children. You know, she's been amazing, she should get an effing medal, I'm telling you, she really should you know?

TOURIST 2: Oh, she's been amazing, she's been totally amazing, she's like just been there all the time. She's meant to be sleeping in our room last night and she was just up all night working and she's incredible, including the fact that she's got three children to look after as well who haven't been well. She's amazing.

GEOFF THOMPSON: The woman those tourists are celebrating is an Australian who was born in Wales.

Sian Hughes is a paediatrician from Melbourne who luckily survived Sunday's tsunami along with her husband and three children while holidaying at Unawatuna.
