When to Go in Pakistan

Edit This
The weather has an impact on deciding when to travel to Pakistan. There are 3 distinct seasons, namely the hot season, cool season and monsoon season. However, in Pakistan due to the diverse topography of the country the weather differs greatly from region to region. It is therefore important to obtain additional information about the specific area you plan to visit. There are often large temperature differences between day and night time.

Cool Season

The cool season is from October to February. During the winter the mountainous areas in the north experience extreme cold while the other lower lying areas of Pakistan cool down and experience pleasant temperatures.

Hot Season

The hot season is from March to June. During summer the mountainous areas in the north of Pakistan experience mild temperatures, making this a pleasant time to visit these areas. However other areas of Pakistan, such as the Indus Valley, experience extreme temperatures that can reach 40C.

Monsoon Season

The monsoon season is July until September. During monsoon season there is heavy rainfall, hot temperatures and strong winds which blow in the rain. The amount of rainfall is erratic and because of the high temperatures the water evaporates quickly. Due to the erratic nature of Pakistan's weather Pakistan has faced both flooding and drought. If you are staying near the Indus River be aware that the river may flood during heavy rainfall. Humidity levels are high during monsoon season.

The ideal time to go to Pakistan is November to March if you are visiting the south. The ideal time to visit Pakistan is April to October if you are visiting the north. It is important to take note of the political situation before going to Pakistan as travel during political campaigns or elections is not advisable.

Trekking season begins at the end of April and finishes in October. The peak season for trekking is from June to September.
