Getting Around in Lahore
Edit ThisLahore is a beautiful and fascinating city, but it can be tough to
travel around unless you know a little about your transport options. Lahore transportation will be easier if you follow a few tips.
Taking the Bus
A network of efficient buses serves the whole city and it is
advisable to book tickets in advance. Be aware that these buses can get
very crowded, and men and women have to sit in separate sections. You
can also catch buses out of the city to other Pakistani destinations
such as Faislabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Islamabad.
Autorickshaw
The cheapest and easiest mode of Lahore transportation is the trusty
old autorickshaw, prominent in most South Asian cities. It may not be
the most comfortable ride, but you really get to see the vibrancy and
reality of Lahore life, up close and personal. Be sure to always agree
the price of the ride before you hop into the autorickshaw, or you may
end up being ripped off. It also helps in this regard if you know
roughly what the actual price of the journey should be.
Car Rentals and Taxis
If you are traveling in a group, hiring a car is a good bet. You can also access some of the attractions that are outside Lahore city that much more easily. Taxis are comfortable, but tend to be comparatively expensive. Again, if you share the journey then Lahore transportation can be cheaper, as the costs can be split between several people.
