Budget Travel Ideas in Karachi
Edit ThisBudget travel in Karachi is easy and doesn't mean you have to scrimp on excitement on your vacation. Being the largest city in Pakistan, the things to do in Karachi are endless and, thankfully, there are quite a few local activities available to those on a budget.
Accommodations
Unlike other cities in the area, Karachi is large enough to house a variety of hotels with a large range of nightly rates. There are a number of hotels that you can reserve for well under $100 a night and won't have to sacrifice quality. The Beach Luxury and the Hotel Jabees are 2 budget friendly hotels that offer decent accommodations at affordable rates.
Things to Do
Nothing is cheaper than free and spending a day at the beach is just that. With countless public beaches around Karachi, kicking back with a beach towel, a cooler of drinks and lunch is a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon soaking in the sun and taking a dip in the inviting waters.
A trip to one of the many local museums such as the military museum as well as the Pakistan National Museum are affordable and offer insight into the history and evolution of this country and city.
Visiting one of the many wildlife parks is another affordable afternoon. The Safari Wildlife Park and the Karachi Zoo are 2 parks that allow visitors to view mammals, reptiles and birds up close while also offering impressive landscaping and a truly educational experience.
Another must when visiting Karachi is a visit to the Zainab Market. A local marketplace, this location has countless locals selling their goods. Items range from traditional clothing and food to souvenirs and little treasures. Keep in mind when shopping in this location, as well as any other markets in Pakistan, the owners will try to sell their products to you at over double the price the products generally will sell for. If you want to save money, you will have to negotiate with the vendors to lower the prices to where they should be.
