The population of Faisalabad reached 5,429,547 in the year 1998, and is shown to have increased by 3% each year since 1951.

Languages
 

According to many philologists, there are more than 300 different languages spoken in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Urdu is the official language of Pakistan. It is similar to Hindi, but it is written in Arabic script. Other languages including English, Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashtu, and Balochi are also spoken in Faisalabad.  

Currency and Visa  

The official currency of Pakistan is the Pakistani rupee (PKR). One Pakistani rupee is equal to .0118 US dollar. One Pakistani rupee is divided into 100 smaller paise .

All people traveling to Faisalabad need to obtain visas, except citizens of Tonga, Trinidad, or Tobago, or those who have a Pakistan Origin Card or UN Laissez-passer. Citizens of Nepal and Samoa do not require visas if they are visiting for 30 days or fewer.

Religion
 

96% of the population in Faisalabad are Muslims. Of these, 80% are Sunnis, and 20% are Shias. There are also other groups such as Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Kalash which comprise the rest of the population.  

Culture
 

Pakistani culture is a mix of various traditions in clothing as well as food habits. Pakistanis have a strong love for the game of cricket, although the national sport is hockey.
There are many conservative areas in Faisalabad, but globalization has started to affect Pakistan, bringing Western values to the city. Most of the families, however, retain the majority of their Pakistani customs and traditions.
