Eid festival

 

Pakistan is among the list of Islamic countries. Eid is very significant and interesting festival for the people. It is celebrated as same as the Christian festival Christmas and Hindu festival Diwali. It starts a month before and it is the holy month of Ramadan. Marketplaces are decorated with lights. The Eid festival is not one day festival but it continues for a month. The citizen celebrates Eid in simple way. They donate money to charities. The main aim to celebrate Eid is to bring smile on faces of people and destroy the evil inside them.

 

Ramadan

 

It is the holiest month in Pakistan, according to the Islamic calendar. More than 95% people of the country fasts for a month. Special foods are prepared in quantities, they celebrate it in a group by arranging a party and some special arrangements are made by some marketplaces and institutes.

 

Chand Raat

 

It comes after the month of Ramadan. It is the month of self discipline and fasting from sunrise to sunset. Chand Raat comes the night before the Eid, at the end of the month of Ramadan.  They arrange a party for all to enjoy. They go for shopping, brings gifts for their relatives. All marketplaces are well decorated with lights and lamps.  A number of people are gathered at the center of city to celebrate it. It is the peak time for all businessmen.

 

Muharram

 

The first ten days of this festival is considered as official days. And then the tenth day is known for Imam Hussain, a martyr with 72 family members during the Karbala battle.

 

Jashn-e-Baharan

 

The Faisalabad festivals include Jashn-e-Baharan. It is also known as Basant which is a pre Islamic festival and it marks the coming of spring season. People from the country and abroad comes for this festival. In Basant festivals, all people organize a kite flying competition on their rooftops. They use strings which are coated with glass to cut everybody’s kite.
