Wah Village Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeSituated 25 miles from Islamabad Capital area is a small village called Wah. Origin of name attributed to Mughal King ShahJahan, Wah in local language (wahi) means "fantastic"
Fresh water springs, lush loquat orchards and gentle rolling hills, was the Wah of the past, over-crowding, polluted streams, deforestation and uncontrolled growth without urban planning is the wah of today. The famous Mughal Gardens though kept in great condition by the Hyat Family (local feudal landowners) till 1975 were taken over by the ministry of Tourism and are in a state of terrible neglect. Ancient pine trees with 1 meter diameter were chopped off and sold for pennies by the Curator of Taxila Museum, who is the official care taker of this place.
Still worth a visit except on Sunday when the Youth from nearby towns take over the Park and hooliganism reigns supreme.
